Client Update Wont Launch For Mac

Client System MacOs 10.13.6 won't start after update to Fusion 11.1 Hi, yesterday I updated my Fusion 11.0.3 on Mojave 10.14.5 to Fusion 11.1, since this my VM with macos 10.13.6 wont start anymore, all other VMs with Win10, Win7, OSX 10.11 (after repairing the hd) are still runnning. Make sure that the other email app is installed. Although you might be able to use a web browser for email (webmail), a web browser isn't an email app. By default a mac will not have server-client trust certificates installed simply because the exchange won't happen transparently between an MS based server and non MS-OS such as OS X. You begin to solve the problem by asking your server administrator for the server's root certificate. A TLS certificate was recently renewed and replaced on the Receiver Updates Service infrastructure. This certificate change prevents Receiver for Windows and Receiver for Mac from being able to successfully check for updates.

  • Real-Time Audio-Video support - Real-Time Audio-Video works with standard webcam, USB audio, and analog audio devices, and with standard conferencing applications like Skype, WebEx, and Google Hangouts. Real-Time Audio-Video is supported on Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) and later. It is disabled on all earlier Mac OS X operating systems. See the documentation for complete software and hardware requirements.
  • Desktop search - Users can now search for a particular desktop by typing in the Desktop Selector window.
  • Reordering shortcuts - Users can now reorder View server shortcuts on the Home screen and desktop shortcuts in the Desktop Selector window by dragging and dropping.

Internationalization

The user interface and documentation for Horizon View Client are available in English, Japanese, French, German, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.

Before You Begin

  • Horizon View Client requires a Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8), Mac OS X Lion (10.7), Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), or Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9) operating system running on an Intel-based Mac.
  • Horizon View Client is supported with the latest maintenance release of VMware View 4.6.x and later releases.
  • If you have an older version of this client software, before you download the installer for this new version of Horizon View Client for Mac OS X, take the following steps:
    1. Remove the older version. Drag the VMware View Client application from the Applications folder to the Trash and empty the trash. This step ensures that, after you install the new version, the application icon in the launch pad will be updated to show VMware Horizon View Client.
    2. Remove the VMware View Client shortcut from the Dock.
  • To install, download the disk image file from the VMware Horizon View Client download page.
  • For system requirements and installation instructions, see Using VMware Horizon View Client for Mac OS X.

Resolved Issues

Resolved in Horizon View Client 2.3.x

  • If you launched a virtual machine in Fusion 6.0 and then connected to a desktop in Horizon View Client for Mac OS X, USB redirection did not work. This problem has been resolved in Fusion 6.0.1 and Horizon View Client for Mac OS X 2.2 and later.
  • If you launched Horizon View Client, started the printing service, connected to a remote desktop, and then launched and quit Fusion, print output was garbled when you tried to use a redirected printer from the remote desktop. This problem has been resolved in Fusion 6.0.2.

Resolved in Horizon View Client 2.2.x

  • The USB redirection features worked only for the first session when you were connected to multiple desktops. This means that when you were connected to multiple desktops, the Desktop > USB menu was available from the first desktop window you opened, but when you switched to another desktop window, the Desktop > USB menu was unavailable (dimmed). This issue has been resolved.
  • If you had Horizon View Client open in windowed mode and you attached an external monitor that had the same resolution as the original display (for example, if both the primary monitor an external monitor had a resolution of 1920x1200), if you then expanded the window to full screen mode, the Horizon View Client menu bar appeared on the external monitor rather than on the original, primary monitor, and the toolbar remained on the primary monitor. This issue has been resolved.

Resolved in Horizon View Client 2.1.x

  • Previously, multiple monitors were not supported on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8). This issue has been resolved.

Resolved in Horizon View Client 2.0.x

  • Previously, if you used the PCoIP display protocol on some Mac OS X Lion (10.7) or Mountain Lion (10.8) systems and displayed the View desktop in full screen mode, when you clicked on the battery, date and time, or search icons on the right side of the menu bar, the pointer moved to the middle of the screen. This issue has been resolved.

Known Issues

  • For some printers, using the virtual printing feature to print to a network printer fails.
Workaround: In the remote desktop, change the paper source setting from 'Tray 1' to 'Automatically Select.'
  • If you use the PCoIP display protocol, connecting some password-protected storage devices (such as IronKey USB flash drives) might not work correctly. For example, after you redirect the device to the remote desktop, the password prompt does not appear. The remote desktop shows that a new drive was added and so displays a new drive letter but no corresponding label to identify the device.
Workaround: Configure Horizon View Client to automatically connect the device when you insert it. From the Horizon View Client menu bar, select Desktop > USB > Autoconnect USB Devices on Insert.
  • Because Horizon View Client is available in Korean, whereas View Connection Server 4.6.x is not, if you use Horizon View Client on a Korean system, you will find that messages that originate from the client are available in Korean, but messages that originate from View Connection Server 4.6.x appear in English.
  • Because the key combination Command+Tab on an Apple keyboard is used for switching applications on Mac OS X, using this key combination has no effect in a remote desktop. For remote desktops that run Windows 7, this means that there is no equivalent of the key combination Windows+Tab for using Windows Flip 3D.
Workaround: You can use the key combination Command+Control+Tab for Windows Flip 3D, but you must also press Enter choose the application you want to switch to.
  • If you use the virtual printing feature and change any printer settings or printing preferences, such as, for example, DPI or double-sided printing, the printer settings do not persist after you disconnect from or log off of a remote desktop.
  • If Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection for Mac version 2.1.1 is installed on the Mac client system and you use the RDP display protocol to connect to a desktop on a Windows Server 2008 R2 RDSH server for which RDS licensing is specified, the following error message occurs: You were disconnected from the Windows-based computer because of problems during the licensing protocol. This is a third-party issue. There is currently no workaround for this problem.
  • Changes to webcam and audio devices that are connected to, or disconnected from, the Mac client system during a remote desktop session are not detected by the Real-Time Audio-Video feature.
Workaround: Disconnect and reconnect to your remote desktop session to detect webcam and audio device changes. For example, if you connect a USB headset to the Mac client system during a remote desktop session and you want to use that headset on the remote desktop, you must disconnect and reconnect to the remote desktop session to make the headset available.

Watch this video or follow the instructions below to learn how to install and set up the Dyn Dynamic DNS Update Client.

Before you begin, you will need to:

  • Create a Dynamic DNS (DynDNS Pro) host or purchase Dyn Standard DNS

Installation and Configuration

Note: Before installing the Dyn Updater, make sure ALL previous dynamic DNS update clients have been uninstalled from your computer.
1. In your Dynamic DNS account, go to Account Settings and locate your Updater Client Key. If the Updater Client Key field is blank, click Generate Key.
Note: Generating a new Updater Key will override the password on any other existing DDNS update clients attached to your account. This means that you will have to distribute the new key to any existing update client linked to your Dynamic DNS account.
Note: If you are setting up DDNS for Managed DNS, visit our Managed DDNS guide.
2. Locate the file dyndns-setup-mac.dmg on your computer and double click the icon. A new Finder window will open, drag the Dyn Updater application into your Applications folder.
3. Open the Dyn Update Client and enter your Dyn account username and use the Updater Client Key as your password.

Then click OK. Your hosts should populate the left panel.

4. Click the host you would like the client to update and select Enable updating for this host.

If successful, the sphere beside the host should turn green.

Note: If you are using a proxy server, you will need to bypass it by selecting the Web-based IP Detection (Bypassing proxy) option under the Interface drop-down menu.

Status

Green – (Normal) Your hosts are up-to-date.
Orange – (Warning) The Dyn Updater requires your attention. Common reasons for receiving a Warning message include:

  • The Updater has submitted the same IP address multiple times within a period of 2 days. To reduce load, Dyn requests that you only update your hostnames if their IP addresses change. If you see multiple Warning messages in your Logs, you should determine the problem immediately, otherwise your account may be blocked due to abuse.
  • Running multiple update clients on one computer, such as version 3.0 and version 4.0 simultaneously.
  • Running multiple update clients on the same network, such as dynamic DNS software on your router, and an update client on your computer.
  • Fresh installation of the Dyn Updater, where all your hosts were already up-to-date.

Red – (Critical) The Dyn Updater has received an unrecoverable error. Some causes for a Critical status are:

  • Invalid account information (username or password is incorrect).
  • Invalid query sent to Dyn, Check your Internet connection to make sure data is being transmitted correctly.
  • Your account has been blocked due to abuse.
Launch

Once you have corrected the source of the critical error, you may click on View Details followed by Retry update to reset the Updater.

General Options

Once you have enabled all the hosts you want the client to update and set the hosts options, you need to configure the rest of its options. If you open the Dyn Updater bar and select Preferences, you can continue with the configuration.

Figure 7: The opened Dyn Updater bar.

The first section you will see is the General options.

Figure 8: The General options preferences.

The first option enables or disables Growl support. Growl is a way to display popup notifications in an non-obtrusive way. If you do not have Growl installed then the option will be grayed out. If you do have Growl installed and you enable the Growl support, growl will display a notification when your IP has updated.

If you wish to install growl, which is a third-party application, you can visit http://growl.info/ to download it.

The second option is “Software Updates”, which will notify you automatically when the update client has a newer version released so that you can make sure you use the latest version.

Security Options

The second section you can view is the Security section.

Figure 9: The Security options preferences.

In this section you have the ability to turn off certificate validation. We recommend keeping this option enabled at all times as it will make sure that the SSL certificates used are valid for updates we publish, which helps keep your machine protected over the internet.

Post Configuration – Accounts

After you configure the client, there are two other useful menu options. The first is the Accounts options.

Figure 10: The Accounts options menu.

The first option is Add Account, which allows you to add additional accounts to the update client’s configuration, in case you have several accounts with us that have hosts you wish to update at the same time.

Below that is the Remove Account option, which is selectable only if you have an account selected in the host list.

Figure 11: Example User is selected in the host list in this example.

The next option is Refresh Account Hosts. You only need to use this option if you have added hosts to your account so that the client is aware of the changes.

Post Configuration – Logging, and Diagnostics

In the menubar you can also select the Tools menu, which allows for several diagnostic options.

Figure 12: The Tools menu.

The first choice is Open Log Viewer. This option will allow you to open and view the update client log to check on the client status.

Next is Clear Log Viewer, which will clear out the log viewer so you only see new information displayed.

The Mark Log option allows you to insert a tag into the log so that you can sectionalize the log in order to view new data as well as retaining the old data, unlike the Clear Log Viewer option.

Client Update Wont Launch For Mac Catalina

The Filter Log Messages option allows you to select what information you want displayed and to hide the rest.

Using Open Daemon Log File will open the system log of the running daemon to view the status at an operating system level, instead of just the update client log itself.

Send Diagnostic Information will let you send an email to Dyn’s support staff including your logs so they can see what is happening for you. Please be sure to also include information about the trouble with the client you are having.

Pause Daemon will cause the update client to pause and not send updates until you unpause it.

Post Configuration – Uninstallation

If you want to remove the client from your system, you can use the Uninstall Dyn Updater option to do just that.
